Gelila: traceability from cold store to distribution route

Background

Gelila handles fruit and vegetables from farm receiving through grading, cold storage and repacking, all the way to export documentation and local distribution. Volume is seasonal and margins are thin, so a day of unclear stock is expensive.

The challenge

Weighbridge tickets, grading results and cold room movements were all recorded on paper. Landed cost per consignment was estimated after the fact, and export customers were asking for traceability the business simply could not produce.

What we built

Gelila gives every intake a batch identity at gate-in, carries it through grading, sorting and packing lines, and keeps it on the pallet and cold room lot it ends up in. Quality inspections and certificates attach to the same batch.

Import and export documentation, customs data and landed cost sit on top of that, and distribution routes with driver settlement close the loop on the local side.

How it rolled out

We deployed receiving and cold store first, during a low season, so staff learned batch discipline before peak volume arrived. Export documentation and landed costing followed once the batch data was reliable.

Where it stands today

Any consignment can be traced back to its lot and source in seconds, landed cost is calculated per batch automatically, and the cold chain from receiving to delivery runs on one system.
